A sculpture of Dante Alighieri who wrote the Divine Comedy in 1472 and laid ground for much of our contemporary views of Hell.

Dear Christians,

We need to talk…

Well, we need to talk about Hell…

Think about it: How often do we actually talk about Hell? How often are we taught the subject of Hell? How often does our sermons mention Hell?

How often do you yourself ponder the mystery that is Heaven and Hell?

What is Hell without a Heaven and vice versa?

How much do you actually know about the theology of Hell? What does scripture say about Hell? What is meant by it? How has it been interpreted through the history of the church?

When did Hell become a place of torment? And why? And what was Hell before that?

Why did Jesus speak in terms of a three-tier universe (with earth in a Heaven and Hell sandwich) when he, as a Jew, had no preconception of this?

And why do pagan notions of the afterlife taint our view of the afterlife more than our Jewish roots does?

Haven’t you ever wondered?

For way too many years, we have pushed the subject of Heaven and Hell away. It has been pushed aside as a mystical aspect of eschatology and visions of the afterlife.

A subject that has been dangerous to touch.

Friends of mine has seen families torn apart and communities destroyed, because of the missing reflections on Heaven and Hell.

Other friends of mine has been sacked and expelled from their jobs as pastors or teachers, basically for repeating Jesus’ own words on Heaven and Hell.

We have become scared of Hell!

Metaphorically speaking.

Scared of mentioning the word: “Hell”

And that is just what I want to do here!

I want to speak about Hell. And Heaven.

To explore the very real dimensions of Heaven and Hell.

To explore why Heaven and Hell are important and beneficial for us as Christians today. Not as a place as eternal torment, as the Church has made it into. But as a very real, physical experience. Just the way Jesus talked about Hell.

I want to give you a language to understand, accept and embrace Heaven and Hell in your life today!

And I want to show you how Heaven and Hell exists even today and that we all can be part of creating Heaven and diminish Hell.

Will you join me on this journey?

I’ve just started writing this book and hopefully it will be published by the end of 2022. Follow me here or on facebook.com/ulrickrd for more info soon!
